Meet The Team
Michael Aitken AM
Principal Advisor
Professor Aitken is the founder and chief scientist of the CMCRC, chairman of the capital markets consulting. A serial entrepreneur, he also established SIRCA, the SMARTS Group and Capital Market Technologies, and led the development of the Thomson Reuters Tick History Service. He acts as the lead expert in capital markets and is spearheading the extension of fraud detection in health markets to the efficacy of health intervention. In recognition of his significant service to the education, business and finance sectors of the nation, Mike was inducted as a Member of the Order of Australia in 2014. In 2016, he was awarded the Prime Minister’s prize for Innovation in Science.
Peter Swan AO FRSN FASSA
Principal Advisor
Professor Swan is a professor of finance at UNSW and previously established the Finance Department at the University of Sydney. Peter was elected as a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences in Australia in 1997, and for some time he was in the top ten most highly cited economics and finance academics in Australia. He was appointed as Member of the Order of Australia in 2003, and Officer of the Order of Australia in 2016. In 2018, Professor Swan was unanimously elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society of New South Wales. Internationally, he is best known for his work in industrial organisation on the economics of durable goods and product quality.
Dr Yiping Lin
Chief Research Officer
Yiping has ten-year experience in data analytics research and infrastructure, and currently leads the Research and Analytics projects. Previously, Yiping was the Head of Research and Business Analytics at the Capital Markets Cooperative Research Center in Australia. He led the big data research in global financial markets, managed the daily operation of CMCRC’s research infrastructure, and industry research projects. Prior to this, Yiping worked as senior research consultant at Nasdaq and Singapore Exchange. His research has contributed to the understanding and development of securities market design in terms of market efficiency and market manipulation. Yiping was also the data science guest lecturer at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen). Yiping completed his Ph.D. in Finance at the University of New South Wales.
Dr Jimmy Liu
Chief Operating Officer
Yubo completed PhD in finance in the University of Sydney, specialising in financial market microstructure, big data analytics, data processing and modelling. Yubo worked as a Senior Research Consultant at Australian Securities Exchange. He was also the Business Analysis Manager at Capital Markets Cooperative Research Center in Australia, specialised in cloud computing, big data analytics. Yubo has worked on multiple research projects with universities, government entities and Fortune 500 companies. Yubo also founded two energy trading companies in Singapore and in Hong Kong. He has over 6 years of experience in physical crude oil trading, derivatives hedging and risk management. He has worked with energy industry business partners across China, Singapore, Europe and America.
Diana Mao CA
Chief Financial Officer
Diana has ten-years experience in financial control, financial analytics, and business developments. She led finance teams in large e-commerce company as well as leading media company to provide key financial information to all company stakeholders. As a strategic partner with company executives, she provides insight to enable the business to make deeply informed short, medium and long-term decisions. She focuses on process and systems improvement further solidify the platform for growth. She is proficient in financial modelling. Good at creating and enhancing company value through financial and capital operations.
